19. 11. 1999 - Církev Southern Baptist Church vyloučila kongregace,které přijímají homosexuály
Věřící protestantské církve Southern Baptist Church ve státu Georgie se na své valné hromadě rozhodli vyloučit ze svého středu dvě odbočky, Oakhurst Baptist Church of Decatur, a Virginia Highland Baptist Church, protože tyto dvě kongregace z předměstí Atlanty nejenom měly homosexuály ve vedoucích pozicích kongregace, ale také prováděly svatby homosexuálních partnerů stejného sexu.Vyloučení těchto dvou kongregací je prvním případem v 177leté historii jižních baptistů. Southern Baptist Church je jedna z více konservativních odnoží protestantismu a jednou z nejpočetnějších.
